The Yellow Papers Scholarship

The Yellow Papers Scholarship is a one-time grant of $1,000 that can be applied to college tuition. The aim of our scholarship is to promote and share Asian American culture and stories from students across the country. There will be a total of five recipients.


  • Five winners will be selected
  • Each winner will receive a one-time award of $1000 USD
  • Application deadline is February 1, 2020
  • 25 entrants will be selected as finalists for two video call interviews by April 1, 2020
  • Winners are announced by May 1, 2020

  • Must be a degree-seeking, full-time student enrolling in a U.S. accredited university in Fall 2020
  • One or both parents immigrated to the US from East or South-East Asia
  • Have a financial need for scholarship
  • Have demonstrated community involvement, particularly related to Asian American causes
  • US citizen, resident or foreign national


The application consists of a questionnaire and a short essay (500 word max). If you are selected as a winner, with your permission, we plan to share your essay with our readers.
